Product Description

D283 is an acid activated, non phenolic application paint remover.

D283 is a phenol free, acid activated paint remover, specifically developed to provide the optimum in paint removing power. In situations where legislation inhibits the use of phenolic materials, removal of polyurethane and epoxy paint systems applied to chemically pre-treated aluminium surfaces is now readily achievable. Incorporated within the D283 formulation is an emulsifier system which ensures effective water rinsing, leaving a wax free substrate which requires minimum preparation before painting.

Please contact Aviation Spares & Repairs Limited for more information on the D283. We are here to help with all your GSE requirements.

  • All susceptible high tensile steel, magnesium and zinc areas should be effectively masked off as D283 may have a detrimental effect on these materials. D283 will degrade the majority of rubber and plastic materials and areas containing these should also be masked off before using paint remover.

  • D283 should be applied by either brush or by means of the D23 Pump Unit to give a thick uniform coat which is then allowed to penetrate the paint scheme. The dwell time will depend on the substrate, the chemical resistance and thickness of the paint, but will probably be in the order of 15-60 minutes. A maximum dwell time of 2 hours before removal is recommended.
After complete blistering of the area, paint is removed with Tufnol or Teflon scrapers and the area thoroughly washed with water or a 2-5% aqueous solution of Aerokleen CD1 followed by a water rinse. This will leave a wax free substrate ready for subsequent pre-treatment and re-painting.

  • Extreme caution should be exercised when opening all paint stripping containers, this includes the wearing of protective clothing and face visor.

  • 25 litre drums.
