What essential tools and test equipment are included in this Sheet Metal Tool Kit for aircraft line maintenance?

Sheet metal toolkits are generally more focused on repair work rather than routine line maintenance tasks. They’re used when you need to repair or replace sections of aircraft skin.

Typically, the kit will include riveters and riveting tools, along with pliers, drill bits and associated drilling equipment. As most aircraft skin panels are riveted in place, you need the right tools to carefully remove existing rivets, clean and prepare the area, and then secure a new section of skin back onto the aircraft.

In short, it’s about having the correct tools to remove, tidy up and refit riveted sheet metal sections safely and properly.

Are the tools ESD-safe and compliant with airline/MRO standards?

ESD-safe tooling is generally associated with environments where spark prevention is critical, such as oil and gas applications. It’s not typically a requirement for sheet metal repair work on aircraft structures.

A sheet metal kit is focused on structural skin repairs, so ESD protection isn’t a primary consideration. However, the tools supplied are suitable for professional aviation maintenance use and aligned with standard aircraft repair practices.

Does the kit include torque drivers, contact extraction tools and coax crimp tools compatible with ARINC wiring?

A sheet metal kit is designed for working on aircraft skin panels and structural sections. Most of this work involves drilling, removing and installing rivets, and preparing replacement panels. It does not cover wiring, contact extraction or ARINC-related tasks.

How is tool control managed – e.g. shadow foam, inventory lists, ATA Spec 300 cases?

The kit includes shadow foam inserts, with each tool cut into a dedicated space so it’s immediately clear if something is missing. The recess design makes tools easy to remove and return, helping maintain visual control during use.

However, this particular kit does not include additional security features such as lockable cases designed to prevent unauthorised removal. If enhanced tool control or ATA Spec 300-compliant cases are required, these would typically be specified separately depending on operator needs.
