Product Description

D53 is a heavy duty ambient temperature immersion paint and carbon remover.

D53 has been developed for the rapid removal of many varied types of paint schemes and carbon deposits. Used at ambient temperatures, it can be used for cleaning ferrous, copper, aluminium and magnesium components without attack on the base metals.

  • D53 should be used at ambient temperature in a mild steel tank with a removable mesh tray to facilitate removal of excess paint residues. A highly inhibited seal layer incorporated within the product will separate out onto the surface of the solution to reduce evaporation losses and act as a reservoir of corrosion inhibitors. This layer also acts as an effective rinse when work is withdrawn from the tank, thus ensuring the loss of active ingredients due to drag out, is kept to a minimum. On installation, the depth of the seal layer should be checked and, if necessary, water added to bring the layer depth to between 3 and 6 inches. The seal depth should be checked regularly to ensure that it is maintained at a minimum of 3 inches.

  • General Paint and Carbon Removal:

    The parts to be processed should be immersed below the inhibited seal layer of the material. The required processing time can vary from a few minutes for an air dried acrylic to several hours for a stoved epoxy or polyurethane. Carbon removal usually requires from 2 to 12 hours.
    After removal from the tank, the components are water rinsed, preferably using an air/water spray gun and dried. As D53 is an alkaline product with a highly inhibited surface seal layer, any subsequent rusting of ferrous components will be retarded, although the metal surface will be extremely clean and, therefore, reactive. If storage of the clean components is anticipated, they should be protected with E24 Dispen.

  • Examples of Typical Uses:

    De-carbonisation of engine parts after dismantling.
    Removal of paint from aircraft landing gear components, wheels etc.
    The cleaning of rubber moulds to remove carbonized residue of release agents and rubber gloves.
    The removal of carbonized oil residues from process plants, oil heaters etc.


  • Extreme caution should be exercised when opening all paint stripping containers, this includes the wearing of protective clothing and face visor.
